The purpose of this organization shall be to enable meaningful involvement in providing financial resources, increasing public awareness, reducing stigma, promoting community outreach, and educating the community regarding the programs offered at OneEighty. This organization supports all services offered by OneEighty.

Friends of OneEighty raises funds to support services of OneEighty; this includes Domestic Violence and Rape Crisis Services, Substance Use and Addiction Services, Mental Health Services, Housing and Supportive Services. 

Being a Board Member is not only an honor, but also an opportunity to serve and strengthen our community.  You would be working with a committed and energetic team who are passionate about our cause.  

As a member of the Friends of OneEighty Board, you will be expected to serve a 3-year term and:

Attend the monthly meeting and share your ideas / concerns Serve on one standing committee Volunteer to help during at least one fundraiser each year Consider being a patron for each fundraiser if possible, especially if you’re not volunteering Volunteer in a leadership position at least once during your 3-year term: Chair a fundraiser or subcommittee Chair a standing committee Serve as an officer of riends of OneEighty

When our students experience hard times or have leave from school for an extended period of time, we like to provide them with a home-cooked meal.

This position supports the Regional Disaster Cycle Services department. Disaster Action Teams provide 24-hour emergency response to local disasters, particularly house fires, ensuring that those affected have access to resources for basic necessities such as food, shelter and clothing. DAT Members participate in all DAT program support and capacity building activities necessary to ensure effective service delivery during a DAT response.

Time Commitment

Minimum on-call shift requirement is equivilent to 24 hours per month and is scheduled based on personal availability. Shift length varies by territory: 2x 12 hrs shift; 4x 6 hrs shift, etc.

Volunteers are highly encouraged to sign up for more shifts to ensure coverage, strong personal engagement and gain valuable learning experiences. Volunteers commit to being available during registered shifts and communicates availability conflicts with DAT Leadership. 

When a call comes in, volunteers are expected to work as part of an assigned team to respond to local disasters within two hours; delivering immediate direct client assistance with support of on-scene lead to assess additional resource/support needs.
